The most awaited trailer of Anurag Kashyap‘s ‘Bombay Velvet’ is finally out. The trailer shows a smoky Bombay (not Mumbai) of the Sixties, with men in sharp suits, women in bouffant hairdos and a city that by night looks impossibly glamorous and beguiling.
The movie based on historian Gyan Prakash‘s book ‘Mumbai Fables’, ‘Bombay Velvet’ essentially tells the story of the city Mumbai and its evolution in the ’60s against the smashing backdrop of romance, action and jazz music.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Johnny Balraj, a street fighter who turns into a tycoon in the movie and Anushka Sharma plays nightclub jazz singer Rosie. As per Indian media reports, the director-producer Karan Johar plays a Parsi businessman named Kaizad Khambatta. Karan Johar's look in the film has already revealed earlier which shows him as a villain in the movie. The sub plot of the movie also features a love triangle between the three characters.
The film directed by Anurag Kashyap features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Karan Johar, and Kay Kay Menon among others. The romantic thriller is being presented by Fox Star Studios and has been produced by Phantom Films.
‘Bombay Velvet’ is slated to release on May 15, 2015.
