Actress Rani Mukherji for her performance as Crime Branch officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in YRF flick ‘Mardaani’ will be honoured with a ‘National award’.
According to Indian media reports, Rani will be honoured with the National Award for the ‘Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child’ at a function organized by Institute for Gender Justice to celebrate the occasion of International Women's Day.
‘Mardaani’ was highly appreciated for its content on Women safety. In film ‘Mardaani’ Rani Mukherji seen in a new avatar like never before. The role was so naturally played by Rani of an empowered and courageous police officer which has given the correct message and urged people to watch the movie with their entire family to get awareness on girl safety.
She has become one of the most high-profile celebrities in India, winning several awards including seven Filmfare Awards. Her film roles have been cited as a significant departure from the traditional portrayal of women in Bollywood.
