imageNew ‘King Kong’ film has been officially titled as ‘Kong; Skull Island’. Originally titled ‘Skull Island’, upcoming King Kong flick was slated to hit theaters on November 4, 2016. Now titled ‘Kong; Skull Island’, the film’s release has been pushed forward by Universal Studios to March 10, 2017.

As source revealed ‘Skull Island’ was first announced by the studio and Legendary Pictures during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con in July. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is already on board to direct the film, based on script penned by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla).

The story revolves around the group of adventurers exploring the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes. The film will be released in 3D. Probably to avoid competition against Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’.

The monster franchise’s last release was ‘King Kong’, which was remade twice in 1976 and 2005 after its inception in 1933. Universal also set Zhang Yimou’s untitled ‘Great Wall’ film for a November 23, 2016 release, with production beginning this spring. The film, which marks Yimou’s English-language directorial debut, tells the story of a group of people protesting on the famous landmarks.
