Shahrukh Khan’s multi-starrer movie ‘Happy New Year’ has hit theatres on Friday and becomes the biggest opener ever, as per early reports.
The early figures suggest that movie has raked in around Rs.45 crore, crossing Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhoom 3’ which collected Rs.36.22 crore on the opening day. With ‘Happy New Year’, both SRK and Deepika break their previous record set by ‘Chennai Express’ which grossed Rs.33.1 crore on the first day, Indian media reported.
‘Happy New Year’ is by far the highest grossing movie of 2014 on its opening day surpassing Bollywood big hits like Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Bang Bang’.
According to Indian media reports Red Chillies Entertainments (RCE) Pvt Ltd announced on Saturday that their latest release, ‘Happy New Year’ had a record breaking opening in the box office in India. It has collected Rs 44.97 crore on the opening day. With Rs 42.62 crore in Hindi, Rs 1.43 crore in Telugu dub and Rs 0.92 crore in Tamil dub, ‘Happy New Year’ has become the highest opening day ranker in Indian films so far”.
Directed by Farah Khan and Produced by Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan the movie is a musical heist starring Deepika Padukone, Shahrukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah.
