‘The Expendables 3’ fails to beat ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘Guardians of Galaxy’ on US box office.
Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Expendable 3’ lack of muscle allowed Megan Fox ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ to remain on the first place.
According to media reports, “While the first ‘Expendables’ had opened with 34.8 million dollars domestically back in 2010, and the second film with 28.6 million dollars in 2012, the latest movie in the franchise grossed just 16.2 million dollars in its debut weekend”.
Recent buzz is the good copy of the film, which had leaked on the Internet, played a huge role in damaging the film’s box office performance. A leaked copy was downloaded 189,000 times through piracy sites.
Meanwhile, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ grossed a total of 117.6 million dollars in its second week, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ stayed as a runner-up as it grossed a total of 222.3 million dollars in its third weekend domestically,” media reported.
