According to Mid-day.com Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone turned down Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Bajirao Mastani' due to her commitment to the makers of 'Shuddhi'.
Bhansali reportedly wanted Deepika to play the leading role of Mastani in his upcoming historical film.
Reports reveal she had even passed the screen test, which was taken by Bhansali, but later refused to work in the film due to date issues.
"The dates Bhansali wanted from Deepika have been allotted to Karan Johar's 'Shuddhi'. This is why the actress is not in a position to play Mastani in the former's film," Mid-day.com quoted a source saying.
Now rumours are making the rounds that Bhansali is reportedly in favour to rope in Kareena Kapoor for the role of Mastani and Ajay Devgan as Bajirao. It is also said Priyanka Chopra has been finalized to play the role of Bajirao's first wife Kashibai.
However, Bhansali has not yet made any official announcement.
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Ranveer Singh will be re-uniting with his ‘Ram Leela’ co-star Padukone in Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’.
It will be directed by Karan Malhotra and is slated to release on 25th December, 2015.
