According to the latest reports Oscar-winning actor and director Ben Affleck has been cast in the Batman role for the forthcoming Superman sequel, Man of Steel 2.
"We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character," Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development at Warner Bros Pictures said in a statement.
Zack Snyder unveiled the big screen superhero mash-up in July at a comic convention, igniting speculation amongst fans about who would next play caped crusader. Now it has been confirmed ‘Argo's’ leading man will star opposite Henry Cavill who will reprise his role as Superman in the yet-untitled sequel.
Affleck, who most recently starred in ‘Runner Runner’ opposite Justin Timberlake, is no stranger to the super hero gig. He previously played blind superhero ‘Daredevil’ in the Marvel Comics film. He is the sixth actor to don the black mask and cape since the first Batman film nearly five decades ago.
