Jackie Chan wins Best Director trophy

imageKARACHI: Jackie Chan beat competition away and was selected as the Best Director at the 9th Huading Awards, held at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre for his superhit “Chinese Zodiac.”

Hollywood’s beloved Hong Kong superstar has received many shiny trophies and accolades around the world in his decades of acting, such as multiple People’s Choice Awards. But the actor was all smiles at the event because this is his first ever best director award in Hong Kong. The award is all the more special because Chinese Zodiac is the action star’s 100th movie.

“Mr. Nice Guy” reportedly said he probably got lucky because the award doesn’t come easy. Media outlets also quote him as having said that he does not intend to direct again because he finds it too difficult and that “Project A” (1983) took seven years and he does not know how many more years he may have.

Last year, the “Rush Hour” star reportedly said Chinese Zodiac would be his last action movie, because he now wants to explore other genres.

The best film award went to “Cold War”, while Nicholas Tse was selected Best Actor for "The Bullet Vanishes." Fan Bingbing, who will reportedly also appear in “Iron Man 3” won Best Actress award for “Double Exposure.”
