imageTech giant Google is planning to convert its subsidiary Youtube, the world largest video-sharing service into a social network in likes of Facebook and Twitter among others.

The firm is working on a feature called ‘Backstage’, reported VentureBeat. The feature would enable users to share photos, videos, polls, etc similar to Facebook timeline, the items will be listed from newest to oldest and will be posted in subscribers' feeds.

The feature is expected to hit the net by the end of the year. The move comes after the disastrous fall of Google Plus, the search engine interest based social network.

The feature would not bring just a superficial change. Memeburn reported that the upcoming Youtube feature seems to merge the video sharing platform with Google+ platform. However, what will be the future of Google Plus remains unanswered.

Backstage’s posts will surprisingly be sharable on other sites and social media platforms including Facebook.

Youtube however, remains one of the most visited sites on the internet with users watching 500 million hours daily. Whereas, Facebook boost a little over 100 million hours of video per day, as per Engadget and. The social aspect added to Youtube would likely make the users stick longer to the video sharing platform.
