There are few things less traumatic than the dropping of your smartphone, and why not nobody likes a cracked or worse shattered screen. But fortunately, living up with this heart wrenching feeling will become a thing of past.
All thanks to the Gorilla Glass 5, the latest version of the popular of Gorilla Glass by Corning, a New York based glass maker. The latest version glass is four times as likely to survive a fall from waist or shoulder height as its competitors with added features, claims the company.
Major tech players i.e. Samsung, Motorola, LG, Hewlett-Packard, HTC and others, use Corning Gorilla Glass products, which have been used billions of devices since 2007.
“Corning Gorilla Glass 5 raises the bar for protection against drops higher than ever, surviving 1.6-meter drops onto rough surfaces up to 80% of the time. Plus, even though it’s our toughest cover glass yet, it still delivers the damage resistance, optical clarity, and touch sensitivity Gorilla Glass is famous for”, said a statement on company website.
As per a global survey cited by Corning found that 85 percent of smartphone users have dropped their mobile device at least once in the past year and that 55pc have dropped their mobile device three or more times in the past year. Therefore, it is not surprising that easily broken screens are the biggest complaints by the smartphone users.
