imageWhat if one can enjoy delicious meat but without harming any animal in the process. That may sound impossible but a food tech startup wants to do just that i.e. enjoy your meat without the guilt of killing an animal.

Now this miracle like offer comes from an Israeli based company called SuperMeat, which plan to take small tissue samples from a chicken and that without hurting the animal, which will then be organically grown into real chicken meat in the lab.

According to Metro, the firm is a collaborative startup consisting of scientists, meat eaters, vegans, environmentalists and health advocates.

The company states that its chicken meat is better than the conventional meat as it is “Healthier - Due to supervised production. Environmentally friendly - requires 99 percent less land, 90pc less water, emits 90% less greenhouse gases. Will be cheaper than regular meat. Ethical - no animals are hurt in the process,” as stated on its website.

However, the company is still in the process of producing its first batch of meat with its machine, as of current the firm has launched a crowdfunding campaign, the TechinAsia reported.

“Funding raised will be used primarily for R&D. A working prototype is expected in three to four years, with a public proof-of-concept demonstration in about two years,” said Professor Yaakov Nahmias, co-founder of Supermeat.

Coming to another important question, i.e. will it taste good? As per reports, the Supermeat’s technology will not only taste good but one is able to enhance the nutritional value of the meat.

“In your own meat machine, you will be able to alternate the taste, change the amount of fat, and even make meat that is made of chicken and rabbit combine together,” said Ronen Bar, vice president of business development Supermeat.
