Microsoft’s Xbox One, successor to the Xbox 360 has seen its sales rise dramatically after it hit store last month. Microsoft along with various publications have classified the device as an ‘all-in-one entertainment system’, directly competing with other digital media players such as the Apple TV, Google TV and most importantly Sony Play Station 4 (PS4).
Recent official sales figures from Sony reveal the PS4 has sold 13.5 million units worldwide. For those who thought the console war is already over, the latest stats from Microsoft may come as a surprise. According Xbox Wire, the Xbox One is closing in on 10 million units sold.
Xbox One is one of an experience itself, when it comes to games, the Xbox One’s catalog offers a good mix of multiplatform releases and compelling exclusives at the year mark. The biggest one this season, of course, is ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’. Other games you can look into are ‘Far Cry 4’, ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ and ‘Project Cars’.
The recently released Xbox exclusives ‘Halo: Master Chief Collection’ and ‘Forza Horizon 2’ scored 89/100 and 86/100 on Metacritic respectively. ‘Titanfall’ was another highly-rated exclusive title to release on the Xbox this year. Future exclusives ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ and ‘Quantum Break’ could even possibly give Xbox the lead over its Sony counterpart, according to TheKarachiite.
Xbox One was released across several European markets, Australia, and New Zealand last year, and later in 26 other markets, the remaining European markets, and the Middle East in October 2014.
