Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has suspended the license of ‘Ary News’ for 15 days.
According to media reports, the regulatory body said in a statement that ARY had maligned the country’s judiciary in a talk show ‘Khara Sach’ hosted by Mubashir Lucman. However, analysts said that the suspension seemed aimed at curtailing coverage by ARY that had been increasingly critical of Nawaz Sharif and his government, particularly by the host of ‘Khara Sach’ Mubashar Lucman, and other hosts on the network.
Senior journalists and political figures have strongly criticized the decision and labeled it victimization of a media organization for keeping the masses informed about what is actually going on in the state.
Speaking about PEMRA decision, PTI chief Imran Khan said PEMRA should be ashamed of such kind of illegal actions. PTI Chief has invited Mubashir Lucman and ARY News to carry out their programs from his container. He warned PM Nawaz Sharif that such kind of actions will make his situation even worse, local media reported.
