‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson asked men to help end gender inequality saying that ‘it’s their issue too’.
According to foreign media reports during a speech made in New York as part of her role as ‘UN Women Goodwill ambassador’ the actress questioned how her objective will ever be reached if only half the population take part. She said, “I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. For the record, feminism by definition is: ‘The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes”.
The Hollywood star launches UN Women campaign ‘HeForShe’ aims to mobilize one billion men and boys as advocates of change in ending inequalities that women and girls face globally. Watson also insisted that men should also play their part for promoting ‘Women’s rights’.
