Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Malala Yousufzai to be awarded with ‘Asia Game Changer Award’
Pakistan’s sole Oscar-winner filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and teenage peace activist Malala Yousufzai have been nominated for the first-ever ‘Asia Game Changer Awards’ announced by the Asia Society, a global organisation highlighting achievements of individuals who excel in various spheres of life, local media reported.
Obaid Chinoy rose to fame with her documentary movie ‘Saving Face’ in 2012. She has been awarded with ‘Oscar’ on her visionary film. The documentary movie revolves around a Pakistani plastic surgeon who treats acid attack survivors. Her another documentary on Taliban children won Emmy Award back in 2010.
While, on the other hand Malala Yousufzai survived a Taliban assassination attempt back in 2012 for her anti-Taliban views. Malala is also a ‘Nobel Peace Prize’ nominee and an advocate for girl’s education. She has widely campaigned for the educational rights on global platforms.
Both the Pakistani activists have been playing an active part towards the betterment of the society and the Pakistani nation is proud own such talents.
