The Lahore High Court on Tuesday has ordered the release of fashion model Ayyan Ali, after accepting her bail plea. Previously, a special Customs Court in Rawalpindi denied super model Ayyan Ali’s bail application after hearing arguments, local media reported.
On Monday, it was 16th time the model was sent on judicial remand since her arrest from Benazir Bhutto International Airport with $500,000 on March 14, 2015. However, earlier this morning she has been released on bail to celebrate Eid with her family.
The model was brought into the court from Adiala jail in armored vehicle in wake of security concerns.
Her counsel Latif Khosa argued that the customs officials had trumped up fake charges of money laundering against her. About the reports linking her to some political personalities, Ayyan said, “I am a professional model and have no relationship with any political personality.” She refused to comment further on the case saying it was sub judice.
After spending exactly four months in Adiala jail, model Ayyan Ali has finally been released on bail.
