imageAccording to Indian media reports Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been gifted Muslim’s holy book Quran Sharif by entrepreneur and social activist Haji Arafat Shaikh.

It is a unique interactive version of the Quran which allows reader to listen the verses in Arabic and Persian and their translation in language of the listener’s choice. It features 22 different languages (regional and foreign) with an immediate simple and easy-to-understand translation.

"I was aware of Amitji's interest in different religions. He is a deeply spiritual man and reads a lot about God. He really liked the gift," Shaikh said in a statement.

Shaikh is the founder of the Yasser Arafat Charitable Trust in India and has recently taken over the distributorship of his multi-lingual digital version of the Quran. He intends to distribute the digital version to the unemployed youth, both Muslims and non-Muslims, in the country.

"I don't believe in handouts. Charity should enable people to take responsibility and work hard for their livelihoods. I am hoping that selling such a holy book will help them earn a decent livelihood for their families and work towards financial independence," he added.

Shaikh believes that the youth plays a vital part in changing society and they should take care of their parents.

"Everyone makes money; nothing new in that. But all of us must also do something for the underprivileged. And from our own earnings — not donations. The trust doesn't ask anyone for donations; in fact, we have never even printed a receipt book for that matter. The most important thing is that today's youth need to take care of their parents. Whatever we are is because of them and their blessings and we must fulfill our duty towards them with respect and love. If we all show this will and sincerity, we will surely make a difference," he said.
