KARACHI: Legendary Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who had a cameo appearance in ‘The Great Gatsby’ starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, has made the West take notice of talent in the Indian Cinema industry.
According to Indian media sources, Big B will now appear on the small screen. Synonymous with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ AB Sr. will now star in a fiction show directed by one of the most highly-acclaimed directors in Bollywood, Anurag Kashyap. When referencing Indian Cinema, Bollywood’s Shahenshah talked about how cynical the West used to be regarding the Indian film industry. However, over time the West has realized that Bollywood films are “an acceptable thought.”
The veteran actor was quoted as saying, “in Europe and America, there's a huge success story, not commercially but at least in thought. They recognize artistry. Our celebrities are huge stars there from Salman, to Shahrukh to Aamir and Hrithik. Everybody is incredibly famous. Inan cinema took a very long time to put an impression.”
Though the actor was modest and did not deem it appropriate to mention himself on the list, what was perhaps more surprising is that the Bollywood icon also left off his son Abhishek, once considered a Bollywood scion.
