apple-forbesKARACHI: Even though Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind the company passed away, Apple remains THE most powerful brand in the world, according to Forbes.

Based on calculations rating financial value and positive consumer sentiment of 130 brands, Apple beat mega-brands Microsoft, Coca-Cola, International Business Machines (IBM) and Google, which are also in the top 5 in that order.

Considering the fact that the launch of the new iPhone is one of the most anticipated telecom events of the year internationally, Apple has a breathtaking $8.71 billion value, 52% higher than its ranking two years ago. Meanwhile, the runner-up, Microsoft is priced at $54.7 billion even though it spends $1.6 billion in advertising every year, almost twice as much as the former.

Nevertheless, it appears people are more fond of Harvard dropout Bill Gates, because Apple stands lower than Microsoft in the consumer sentiment area, for example on attributes such as “invests in customers” and “addresses my unique needs.”

Others in the top 10 include Intel, McDonald’s, General Electric, BMW and Cisco, respectively. Interestingly, tech brands occupy 60% of the top 10.
