salman-khan-finalKARACHI: Bollywood heartthrob actor Salman Khan has been given a temporary relief by the Mumbai session court which adjourned the hearing of the 2002 hit-and-run case till April 8.

According to sources, Khan, who had rushed back to Mumbai on Saturday night from the US for the hearing of his case , did not appear in person before the court today as he had not received any summons.

The Mumbai Sessions court was supposed to decide today whether to charge Salman with rash and negligent driving or give a harsher sentence under culpable homicide not amounting to murder on the basis of new evidence provided by the police earlier this year .

On September 28, 2002, Salman ran his Land Cruiser recklessly over a pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring four persons.

However, Salman’s lawyer Ashok Mundargi has requested for more time from the court and the charges against him will now be decided next month.
