Obama nominates a Pakistani born Muslim as Federal Judge In the first ever move in the history of USA, a Pakistani Muslim has been nominated to the country’s federal judiciary. The nomination of Pakistani born Abid Riaz Qureshi was made by President USA Barack Obama.“I am pleased to nominate Mr. Qureshi to serve on the United States District Court bench,” said Obama in a statement. “I am confident he will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice.”Qureshi, who was born in Pakistan, and has been leading the Los Angeles-based law firm Latham & Watkins’ pro bono practice, since 2012 and has been a partner at the firm since 2006, reported the International Business Times.
