Three killed in hand grenade attack

At least three persons were killed while three others sustained injuries when unidentified armed men hurled hand grenade at Jahanabad in the limits of Pak Colony area. According to police and eyewitnesses, members of notorious gangster Ghaffar Zikri and Baba Ladla gangs reached at Jahanabad, which was supposed to be the stronghold of Uzair Jan Baloch, chief of banned Peoples Amn Committee.

They said that after chanting slogans against Uzair, they lobbed a hand grenade in the area that left one-year-old baby boy, Shahnawaz and two others, namely, Iqbal Kareem, 30 and Nadeem Ghani, 32, killed and Gulistan Mohammad, 50, Yasin Mohammad, 25 and Faiza, 18, wife of Nawaz wounded.

SHO Bilal Raza confirmed that it was an attempt to recapture the area. Later, heavy contingent of law enforcers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. An overnight search operation is also expected, police sources said. No case has been registered till filing of this report.
