PESHAWAR: President of the Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Sunday underscored the need for national unity in order to wipe out the menace of terrorism and militancy from the country.
He was talking to reporters here at the Bilour House after offering Fateha for the departed soul of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour, who was killed in a suicide attack on Saturday.
The ANP chief said wat not the responsibility of a single political party or group to counter terrorism but the whole nation and political parties should stand united to get rid of this scourge.
The war on terror can be won only with the combined efforts of the people and evolving a joint strategy, he added.
Asfandyar Wali termed the death of Bashir Ahmed Bilour a great loss for the country and the nation. His sacrifices for the motherland would be written in golden words and would not go in vain.
He said the ANP leadership, ministers and workers were rendering sacrifices for the protection of motherland. Bashir Bilour had sacrificed his life for a noble cause and his mission would be completed.
