Contempt petition: civil judges asked to convey summons to Awan

Lahore High Court here Tuesday directed senior civil judges here and Islamabad to convey court's summon to PPP senator, Babar Awan in connection with a contempt petition against him. As proceedings started, it was informed to the court that Babar Awan has not submitted his reply. On this, the court directed both the senior civil judges to comply with court's order.

The petitioner's lawyer Afaq Ahmad contended that Babar Awan has been frequently targeting Supreme Court and uttered derogatory remarks against it on numerous occasions. He prayed to the court to bar the senator from issuing any statement on sub judice matters and initiate contempt of court proceedings against him and he should be declared disqualified.
