Davis Cup to send a positive message to the World: Zubair
ISLAMABAD: Expressing happiness over Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-II final being held at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair said it would send a positive message across the world that Pakistan is a safe country to hold international events.
"I believe holding of this event will send a positive message to the whole world. It will show to the world that we can hold any sort of international sports activities," he said here at Pakistan Sports Complex on the first day of Davis Cup final between Pakistan and Thailand.
He said there is a vast infrastructure of sports in the country. "I would also talk to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for increase in sports funds," he said.
Zubair also praised the security arrangements for the Davis Cup final. "The law and order situation in Karachi has improved remarkably. Hopefully the next Pakistan Super League (PSL) final would be held in Karachi," he said.
On the occasion, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President, Salim Saifullah Khan lauded the Federal and Provincial governments for their support saying this is a big day for Pakistan sports.
