LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved verdict on petitions challenging ban on media coverage at Allama Iqbal International Airport and other airports in Punjab.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the petitions filed by Lahore Press Club, City News Network and Judicial Activism Panel, a public interest litigation firm.
Earlier, petitioners' counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique arguing before the court submitted that authorities had imposed a ban on media coverage at the Allama Iqbal Airport and other airports.
He was of the view that the ban was a violation of Article 19, 19A and 10A of the Constitution.
He pleaded the court to set aside the ban being unconstitutional.
However, a law officer on behalf of the government defended the ban and submitted that the media could not be allowed coverage due to red alert.
He further submitted that the media covered Karachi Airport attack which benefited the terrorists.
The court after hearing arguments of all parties reserved verdict on the petitions.
