Shehbaz arrives at Judicial Academy to appear before JIT

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arrived at the Federal Judicial Academy to appear before the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Saturday (today).

To investigate the Sharif family’s offshore assets, a panel of JIT was formed under Supreme Court’s April 20 judgment in the Panama Papers case.

After summoning Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, the premier’s elder son, Hussain Nawaz, five times and his younger son, Hassan, twice, JIT has now summoned CM Shahbaz Sharif.

The chief minister arrived in the federal capital on Friday evening and held important meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N’s top cadres in connection with his scheduled appearance before the panel.

In a statement, he asked the party workers not to gather outside the Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad.

It is reported that, the chief minister has been asked to bring the record of Chaudhry Sugar Mill, Ramzan Sugar Mill, Hudaibia Papers Mills and other businesses.

So far the probing body has sought the record of 45 factories owned by Sharif family.

The JIT will present its third progress report to Supreme Court of Pakistan on June 22.
