NA body decides emigration amendment bill 2017 to discuss in next meeting
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has decided to invite the officials of Ministry of Interior to discuss "the Children (Pledging of Labour) (Amendment) Bill, 2017," and "the Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2017".
The representative of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development have informed the Committee that the subject Bill related to Ministry of Interior.
The meeting was held here on Tuesday at Parliament House, under the acting Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan, MNA.
The meeting was attended by MNAs, including Ch. Abid Raza, Sabiha Nazir, Aisha, Chaudhry Muhammad Munir Azhar and Syed Sajid Mehdi, besides officials of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Ministry of Law and Justice.
They also discussed and appreciated the positive role of Parliamentarians in Board of Governors (BOG) of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) for the prosperity and development of the country.
The Managing Director (OPF) informed the Committee that after the promulgation of Public Sector Companies (Corporate Governance) Rules, 2013, in pursuance of Rule 3(7) of the said Rules, appointment of honorable members of the Parliament has been discontinued, now, by the Government.
The Committee constituted a Sub-Committee under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan to examine the legal status of OPF with reference to his creation under Immigration Ordinance 1979.
