ISLAMABAD: Senate Committee on Delegated Legislation on Thursday discussed Regulations of Privatization Commission Ordinance 2000.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Taj Haider here at the Parliament House.
The meeting was attended among others by Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Senator Mohsin Laghari, Senator Kalsoom Parveen, Director General Privatization Commission, Consultant and Legal Consultant at the Commission.
The committee discussed regulations 3,9 and 14 of Privatization Commission Ordinance 2000 on a petition of former Senator Choudhary Muhammad Anwar Bhinder which termed the said regulations to be ultra-vires of the basic ordinance.
The meeting heard in detail the recommendations of Senator Anwar Bhinder.
He said that the language of the regulations pertaining to appointment of financial advisor, opening of financial proposals and other matters are contradictory to the basic act and have confusions regarding what body is apex and which is subservient in the commission and its board.
The Privatization Commission will send their reply to all the comments of the petitioner and the members of the Committee in the next meeting after consultation with the Chairman and other senior officials.
