KARACHI: The `Youm-i-Takbeer' would be celebrated on Sunday to commemorate the historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28 in 1998 by the then government of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

This also make Pakistan as the seventh nuclear power of the world and the first in the Muslim world.

" This is a memorable day in the history of Pakistan", remarked a former federal minister for petroleum, Haji Hanif Tayyab, while talking to APP here on Saturday.

He said that on this day in the year 1998, Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, emerged as the first Islamic country in the world with atomic capability.

This, he added, also helped in making the defence of Pakistan invincible, he added.

Haji Hanif Tayyab, a veteran politician and president of Nizam-i- Mustafa Party, paid rich tributes to all those who contributed towards making Pakistan a nuclear power.

He also praised the role of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, scientists including A.Q. Khan as well as all others.
