On the other hand, an FIR was also lodged under section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on Friday against suspects, who attacked and killed a university student in Mardan for alleged blasphemy, at a local police station.
Meanwhile, the varsity administration already decided to shut the institution for an indefinite period.
It is pertinent to mention here that, Mashal Khan, a resident of Swabi and a student at AWKU’s Journalism and Mass Communication department, was shot in the head and chest before the mob beat his body with sticks.
The attackers wanted to burn his body, the administration said, adding a police contingent that arrived at the scene immediately took custody of the body, but students kept on demanding it back.
Khan was attacked by around 500 students who beat him up after dragging him outside his room in the hostel. “Ten students have been arrested after Thursday’s attack the grounds of a university in the northern city of Mardan,†DIG Mardan Alam Shinwari told The Express Tribune.
