Adam Pretty began his career at the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997 as a news photographer. His desire to specialize in sport saw him move to Getty Images in 1998. While with Getty, he has worked out of Los Angeles, Sydney and Beijing, and is now located in Tokyo.
Pretty has photographed five Olympic Games, and covered assignments around the globe for magazines including Sports Illustrated, Life, Time, Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar. Pretty has won a number of major international awards, and was a member of the 2010 World Press Photo Contest jury in Amsterdam.

Vadim Kaptur and Timofei Hordeichik of Belarus compete in the Mens 10-meter Synchro Platform preliminary round of the World Aquatics Championships, in Shanghai, China, on 17 July. They were ranked 11th in the preliminary, but rose to 10th in the final.
