Russia just built a soviet Soyuz rocket, which they launched and blasted off from the French Guiana and successfully placed into orbit at a Spanish telecommunication satellite according to the French Launch company, Arianespace.

The rocket took off from the Guiana Space Center at estimated 10:30 pm local time on Friday. The satellite dubbed The Hispasat 36W-1 was placed into geostationary orbit and is the first to be built by Europes new SmallGEO platform invented by Germanys OHB System AG under the watchful eye of the European Space Agencys Advanced Research Telecommunications Systems Program.

It is the first of the 12 launches planned for the year 2017 and will provide a wide range of communications services for the continental Europe, the Canary Islands and South America, said Arianespace.
