imageKARACHI: Governor Sindh Justice (retd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui passed away here on Wednesday in a private hospital, where he was taken due to chest pain and breathing problem.

The 79-year-old had been facing severe health issues ever since assuming charge as the 31st governor of the province on November 11 last year.

All prominent politicians of the country expressed deep sorrow on the death of Governor Siddiqui, who had also served as the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) from July 1999 till January 2000. During the rule of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Siddiqui famously refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a day-long mourning tomorrow (Thursday) in the province.
