Pakistan boxing hero, Muhammad Waseem met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Flyweight Champion was praised by COAS for his outstanding achievements, stated an ISPR press release. The army chief further expressed confidence on Pakistani youth, saying that the young generation should follow Waseems footsteps to bring good name to the country.
Waseem successfully defended his Silver Flyweight title last November, beating the Philippine boxer Giemel Magramo by 114 to 112 points in the highly anticipated 12-round bout held in Seoul.
The Pakistani boxer, who is also known as Falcon Khan, won the WBC Silver Flyweight Championship in July 2014, defeating Jether Oliva to become the first South Asian boxer to win the boxing title.
Waseem has thus far remained unbeaten throughout his career spanning five matches.
