imageKARACHI: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif lauding the performance of Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) on Friday said it was one of the best performing stock exchanges in the world.

"One and a half years back, Karachi Stock Exchange was at 19916 points and now it is at 34606 points," the Prime Minister recalled while talking to media during his visit to KSE.

He expressed satisfaction over the performance of KSE and congratulated the officials and members of the stock exchange over the record performance, which he added depicted overall improvement in the country's economy.

The Prime Minister said that he paid a surprise visit to KSE and had a good interaction with officials and members of the stock exchange.

He said the record performance of the KSE reflected the government's prudent financial and economic policies, adding, inflation in the country was lowest since the present government took over.

The Prime Minister said overcoming energy crisis required herculean efforts. He, however, added, "We will Insha Allah overcome the energy crisis."

"We will ensure development of energy projects to put the country on the path of progress," the Prime Minister maintained.
