imagePESHAWAR: The Internally Displaced People of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) will receive Rs7000 per month through mobile Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) to ensure transparent, quick and speedy financial relief to the dislocated people in this hours of stress and need.

Haseeb Khan, Spokesman of Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDA) told APP on Monday that an understanding with ZONG Cellular Company has been reached according to which it will provide free SIMs to registered IDPs for disbursement of monthly cash compensation for procurement of food items.

He said this would ensure speedy distribution of relief amount among IDPs through a transparent mechanism.

Haseeb Khan said distribution of ZONG SIMs has been started and 22 SIMs were distributed yesterday at Saidgai Check Post in FR Bannu.

The official said distribution of SIMs in Bannu will start from today for which all arrangements have been completed.

He said it was the landmark decision taken to address the financial problems of IDPs besides saving their times and money as distribution of money through SMART Cards and ATMs are time consuming and expensive that also required expertises.

A large number of IDPs are still coming from North Waziristan Agency due to massive military operation against terrorists and militants there and are being accommodated at the relief camps.

Hasseb Khan said 4,24,000 IDPs have migrated from NWA for which adequate arrangements have been made by the government with assistance of line departments and welfare organizations.

He said a huge IDPs camp at Bakakhel in Bannu district have been setup with all basic necessities of life were provided to IDPs. In addition to eight washrooms/bathrooms, ten shades, he said, availability of clean drinking water has been ensured.

He said 20 water tanks were available to quench thirst of dislocated people.

Food boxes with dates, juices, biscuits, mineral water bottles were also being provided to IDPs, he maintained.

At Saidgai check post, he said 30 desks for registrations/information and guidance of dislocated people were setup with availability of all basic necessities of life.

As per the directions of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, he said, electricity supply was provided to IDPs Camp at Bakakhel.

He said the Chief Executive PESCO personally visited the IDPs camp and ensured timely electricity supply to it for facilitation of our needy brethrens. He said facility of tents were also available at IDPs Camps.

He said a high powered committee with representatives of security forces, PDMA, FDMA and Ministry of SAFRON have been constituted to oversees and ensure timely release/distribution of Govt announced money among IDPs.

The FDMA Assistant Director said Rs7000 for food items, Rs5000 for non food items and 3000 for transports are being given to IDPs. He said staff of FDMA was working day and night and available for facilitation of IDPs camps.

The PDMA has requested all the DCs to constitute district level committees to gather relevant information about displaced persons residing with their relatives. This data will be used for security as well as provision of relief and cash to IDPs.

Meanwhile, Director General Health Services also paid a visit of district Bannu and constituted various teams to provide round the clock emergency care to the IDPs like treatment of sunstroke, body aches, cramps in legs, polio vaccination etc.

Food items are being provided regularly by the district administration Bannu and sufficient food items have been provided to the district administration by PDMA. Public Health Engineering Department has also been directed to ensure clean drinking water facilities in the camps.

Additional vehicles were also placed at the disposal of district administration Bannu to ensure quick relief to the IDPs.

Apart from that rescue-1122 has provided three state of the art ambulances along with staff to help IDPs in case of any emergency.

The relief and welfare organizations are also busy providing assistance to IDPs.
