imageISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has termed Iran's nuclear deal a positive step.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said the deal will have positive effects on Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.

He said that the government of Pakistan is currently focusing on the finances and other matters related to the project.

He said that the project was vital for Pakistan and the situation regarding the implementation of the project would become clear during next year.

Renowned economist Dr Akmal Hussain also said that the western powers have made an interim deal with Iran on its nuclear issue and Pakistan should benefit from the interim period of six months for construction of the pipeline.

He suggested that the government of Pakistan should also discuss the project with the United States and global financial institutions to achieve its objectives.

Energy expert Dr. Gulfaraz Ahmed said that Pakistan should demand of the United States to help construct Pak-Iran gas pipeline project, in return of its services.

He said that the changing diplomatic relations of the United States and Iran would have good impact on the project.

He claimed that funding for the project would not be a problem if Pakistan seriously wanted to construct the project.

Renowned industrialist Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said Pak-Iran gas pipeline is most viable option for Pakistan to meet its energy requirements.

He said that Iran's deal on its nuclear issue would facilitate the project.

He added that now the international financial institutions would also be encouraged to provide funds for this project.
