imageRAWALPINDI: An Election Tribunal on Thursday ordered Member National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to submit reply over poll-rigging allegations leveled by his political opponent Malik Shakeel Awan on September 16.

Election Tribunal Judge Wamiq Javed was hearing an appeal filed by former MNA Malik Shakeel Awan seeking disqualification of Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid, who won the NA-55 seat in the general election-2013.

Abdul Rashid Awan and Sardar Abdul Razzak, counsel for the AML chief were present in the tribunal. Malik Shakeel Awan had filed a petition with the Rawalpindi Election Tribunal seeking disqualification of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on rigging charges in the general election.

The applicant, in his petition, alleged that Sheikh Rashid had taken control of various polling stations and used unfair means to secure votes.

He also alleged that the elected MNA also filed a wrong statement of his assets with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
