image2012 American, science-fiction film, ‘The Hunger Games,’ comes storming back into cinemas with its sequel ‘Catching Fire,’ continuing the fiery, televised battle dictating life or death. The former film directed by Gary Ross, centers on Suzanne Colin’s same name novel. This story is based on the terrifying journey of 16-year-old, Katniss Everdeen, who voluntarily takes her sisters place and subjects herself to a frightening struggle, fighting for her life, alongside her districts male tribute Peeta Mellark. The Nation of Panem consists of a wealthy capitol comprising of the elite, as well as 12 poor districts. As punishment for a past uprising, each district is to hand over one male and one female between the ages of 12 and 18. Selected by lottery (the ‘Reaping) that renders them in an unfortunate, fierce endeavor, forced to resort to bloodshed in order to survive - after all only one victor arises and acclaims the throne to endless wealth and fame.

Lionsgate Entertainment hasn’t had enough of this raging, ferocious spine-chiller and has quickly coined its second installment ‘Catching Fire,’ said to debut in IMAX on November 22nd, later this year. Get that adrenaline pumping were in for a theatrical, inflamed adventure. Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss Everdeen along with Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz and Elizabeth Banks, among others, reprising their roles. After winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen returns home to District 12 accompanied by fellow winner Peeta Mellark. Soon after, they must embark on a “Victory Tour” of the districts, again leaving behind their loved ones. On the day of the tour Panem’s ruthless President, Snow, threatens Katniss’ best friend and pretend cousin Gale Hawthorne. Shortly after she senses a rebellion concocting in the districts as President Snow (Donald Sutherland), prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, known as a ‘Quarter Quell,’ an event held every 25-years, and could essentially change Panem forever. Will it or not? That’s for Gary Ross to know and us to find out…brace yourself. All the leading protagonists dyed their hair once again to fit their roles and additionally went through immense training.

The former film being the first since ‘Avatar’ to remain in first place at the North American Box Office for four consecutive weekends, there is no doubt the sequel will receive an equal if not a crazier response. Not to forget, Coldplay’s song ‘Atlas,’ will be featuring in the films soundtrack.
