imageRAWALPINDI: The four-day annual Spring Flower Show, jointly organized by Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) at Race Course Ground Cantt will end on April 7.

The floriculture lovers from across the city are visiting Race Course Ground to see rich variety of flowers on display. The venue is presenting a festive look where exquisite colours and aroma of fresh flowers are adding to the aura of the exhibition. The vibrant show featured excellent exhibits and stalls busting with colours and creative ideas thus making it an attractive spot befitting the spring season.

Various departments from the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad including CMH, PHA, RCB, CCB, MH, CMH, Quaid-e-Azam University, Attock Oil Refinery, Ayub National Park, Jinnah Park, Ibrar Surgery and a number of individuals were given shields and cash prizes in the opening ceremony held on April 5.

Station Commander Rawalpindi, Brig. Zaman Nasrullah Khan Niazi who was chief guest at the exhibition opening ceremony, addressing the participants said that both the cantonments of Rawalpindi, RCB and CCB are making efforts for the plantations in all available spaces and have developed numerous greenbelts and grounds.

He informed that 50,000 saplings of various species were planted in Rawalpindi Cantonment and Chaklala Cantonment areas during last three years while during this spring season so far over 12000 saplings have also been planted.

He lauded the efforts of the Cantt Executive Officer (CEO) and the gardeners who he said, toil in sun and rain to undertake plantations. The citizens should also play their role in making the environment green and pollution free, he added.

Cantt Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Manzoor Ahmed Khan speaking on the occasion said that the flower exhibitions are annual feature of cantt authorities to provide the residents clean and healthy environment.

He informed that different spices of rose and other spring flowers have been displayed in the exhibition.

He urged the people to promote plantations in the cantt areas for its beautification. All available resources are being utilized in this regard, he said.

The function was attended among others by Cantt Executive Officer (CEO) Chaklala Cantonment Board,Commandant CMH, Maj, Gen, Salahuddin Qasim, Cantonment Board Additional CEO RCB Shakeel Anwar Jappa and Administrator Rawal Town Saif Anwar Jappa.
