pak-iran-nayyarISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari on Tuesday said Pakistan and Iran would take concrete steps to boost bilateral trade volume and agreed to exchange more parliamentary delegations to discuss issues of mutual interest.

 

He was talking to media persons after meeting with Iranian delegation who was headed by speaker Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Dr. Ali Larijani. Larijani is here to attend the first Speakers Conference of Parliamentary Association of ECO Countries (PAECO). Bukhari hoped that cooperation between both the countries would also have positive impact on the region.

 

During their meeting, they focussed on ways to benefit from the petroleum products of Iran including gas, oil etc. and in return Iran had also shown interest in exporting agriculture goods including wheat, rice and other products from Pakistan to enhance trade, said Bukhari.

 

He said talks were held on a positive note and fruitful results are expected in near future. He also lauded visits of Iranian delegation to attend PAECO conference, adding that enhancing relations on parliamentarians level would help discover more ways to cement bonds between both the countries.

 

"We are endeavouring to nurture an atmosphere where more parliamentarian delegations from both the countries to visit and this step would not only have positive impact on relations of both the countries but it would also be beneficial for the whole region", Nayyer said.

 

Earlier head of Iranian delegation sharing his remarks said it was a great pleasure to visit Pakistan and hoped that in future cooperation between both the neighbouring countries on trade and other matters will further enhance.

 

The members of the Iranian delegation included Shaheen Mohammad Sadeghi, Member Parliament and head of presiding board of Islamic Consultative Assembly, Gholamreza Asadullahei, member parliament and head of Iran-Pakistan Friendship Group, Mehdi Sanaei, Member Parliament and National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Mrs. Haleema Aaali, Member Parliament, Mohammad Jaffery, Advisor and Head of Speaker's Secretariat of Islamic Consultative Assembly, Alireza Haghighaian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Hassan Ghashghavi, Deputy Parliamentary, Consular and Iranian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Sobhani, Director General West Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Hussain Bani Assadi, Counselor General and Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran Lahore.
