zafar-ali-shahISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works Monday condemned indifferent attitude of the Estate Officer towards parliament and decided to move privilege motion against him for breaching the privilege of the House.

The Committee met here under the chairmanship of Syed Zaffar Ali Shah to examine the issue of vacation of government accommodation from non-entitled/illegal occupants.

Members of the committee Mrs. Farhat Abbas and Abdul Nabi Bangash were also present in the meeting.

The committee expressed annoyance over the absence of the officials of Ministry of Housing and its attached department Estate Office and termed it tragedy that they do not bother to send their representative in the meeting.

The committee was informed that employees of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company and Pakistan Telecommunication Company have illegally occupied 400 to 500 government houses as they were not entitled to the government houses.

Member of the committee Abdul Nabi Bangash said that Estate Office under which law allotted a house to more than one person at a time and demanded for action against the officials involved in bribe.

He said that Estate Office was hand in glove with the illegal occupants of the government houses.

The committee also heard complaints of the employees regarding government accommodations and deferred their cases till next meeting of the committee on January 15 and summoned Ministry of Housing and its attached department Estate Office with record of the complainants.
