wattoo-LAHORE: PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo has said that continuity of democratic process is very important to resolve the problems facing the country.

Addressing a press conference at PPP Punjab Secretariat here on Monday, he said that PPP leadership had rendered great sacrifices for the revival of democracy, democratic institutions and uplift of poor people's plight.

He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto adopted the democractic vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and included it in the constitution while Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also struggled for it.

He said that PPP, Minhaj-ul-Quran Chief Tahir ul Qadri and Nawabzada Nasarullah all made struggles for the promotion and strengthening of democracy but now the agenda of Minhaj-ul-Quran Chief was incomprehensible.

He said that elections would be held within sixty days after the caretaker setup would be formed.

He further said that people would elect their representatives on merit and only choose those who would work for the progress of the country. He said that Pakistanis were very intellectual as they had supported Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah against the feudal system.

He said that parliament had already made reforms through 18th and 20th amendments, now institutions were being established and provinces were being made autonomous.

Proper mechanism for the appointment of judiciary was existing in the country while proper mechanism was being adoted for setting up of caretaker set up.

He said transparent elections would be held as the Chief Election Commissioner and his team was very credible.

The elections would be held on time and there was no possiblity of its postponement, he said and added that there was no room for any electroral reforms in the country.

He said that those parties wanted to create unrest would get nothing and they would face severe defeat.

He said people would not forgive those who would sabotage the election process.

He said that yesterday Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood had invited all Punjab Assembly parliamentarians but PML-N MPAs did not turn up which showed their bad attitude.

He said that all parties wanted the transfer of power to civilian government peacefully.

Responding to a question, he said there was no cold war between PPP and PML-Q. PPP was ready to negotiate with MQM on reforms issue while being remained within constitutional limits.

Responding to another query, he claimed that Qadri's long march would not took place and deterrence would prevail against it.

Earlier, Seth Muhammad Amjad from RY Khan, Syed Sajjad Hussain from Hasalpur, Malik Ejaz from Lodhran, Syed Fazal Hussain Shah from Layyah, Mian Amjad Yaseen from Faislabad formally joined PPP on this occasion.
