lahore-high-courtLAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday disposed of a petition for recovery of alleged missing Canadian national, a Sikh woman Rajvindar Kaur Gill.

 

The single bench comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood was hearing the petition filed by Sikandar Singh Gill, father of missing woman.

 

Earlier, DSP Organised Crime/investigation officer appeared before the court and submitted a report wherein it was stated that a case had been registered at Police Station Sarwar Road, Lahore against the kidnap of alleged missing woman.

 

He further pointed out that an accused Hafiz Shahzad Ahmad had been arrested and Laptop of Rajvindar was also recovered from him and it was identified by girl's father.

 

The petitioner's counsel mentioned that Rajvindar's bank accounts were being operated from Switzerland, therefore, directions be issued to stop it. The counsel further submitted that he would be satisfied if IO was directed to investigate fairly after collecting bank accounts details, mobile phone data and locate detenue.

 

After hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the matter, directing IO to investigate the case fairly.

 

Sikandar Gill, in his petition, submitted that her daughter arrived in Pakistan on August 25 to attend an exhibition of diamonds in Lahore. But, he said, she had gone missing since then. He prayed the court to direct the police to find Ms Gill and produce her before the court.

 

Meanwhile, a Cantt court on Monday handed over the accused Hafiz Shahzad Ahmad, allegedly involved in kidnapping of Canadian woman, to police on a five-day physical remand and directed to produce him again on January 12.

 

The accused Shahzad Ahmad told the media that he along Shahid Ghazanfar received Rajvindar Kaur from airport and threw her body in Khanpur Canal after killing her.

 

It is pertinent to mention that main accused Shahid had fled to Germany and efforts were being made to arrest him through FIA.
