gilani-yousuf-MULTAN: PPP senior vice chairman and former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Friday said the Pakistan Peoples Party had (PPP) always strived against anti-democratic forces whenever it came to power.

 

Speaking at a press conference at his residence here along with a group of politicians from Bahawalpur who quitting the PTI and PML-N joined the PPP, Gilani said nobody knew against whom Dr Tahirul Qadri was planning long march.

 

He said the PPP did not agree to the philosophy of Dr Tahirul Qadri as he was against Parliament.

 

To another question, he said holding a procession or public meeting was right of everyone in democracy but nobody would be allowed to create law and order situation.

 

About seraiki province, Yusuf Raza Gilani said Speaker National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza had constituted a parliamentary commission on the establishment of new provinces, adding that it was preparing its report after taking opinions of stakeholders. "We are following the procedure," he said.

 

About the MQM support to Dr Tahirul Qadri's long march, he said the MQM was a coalition partner and it kept on expressing its views on various national issues."Politics is a day to day affair," Gilani added.

 

On Balochistan issue, he said the PPP launched Aghaz-i- Haqooq-i-Balochistan, gave its share of the NFC award, created job opportunities for its youth and met their long standing demands.

 

The former prime minister said the PPP also gave an identity to Khyber PakhtunKhwa on the demand of the ANP and people of the province.

 

To another question, he said stability in Afghanistan was in favour of Pakistan and added that Afghanistan could get benefit from Pakistan's stability.

 

About question on Pak-USA relationship, Gilani said the ties based on mutual interest and mutual benefits.

 

Gilani felicitated Pakistan cricket team on winning one day series from India.

 

He vehemently condemned the alleged attack on Multan Press Club president Shakeel Anjum.

 

On this occasion, PM's media coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Syed Irfan Ahmad Gardezi, former provincial minister Syed Sajad Hussain Bukhari and others were also present.
