polio 400RAWALPINDI: As many as 281,000 children under five years of age would be vaccinated in five-day special anti-polio campaign started here on Thursday which would continue till Dec 31 said Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal.

 

He said that 534 mobile teams have been constituted to visit house to house to vaccinate the children.

 

There are special vaccination centres while 13 teams have also been constituted to perform the duties in this connection on transit points especially at bus stands.

 

Area Incharges have been deputed to supervise the campaign at union council level and Zonal Supervisors will monitor the areas of 63 union councils and cantt wards to make this campaign a success.

 

He said no negligence on part of officials concerned would be tolerated during the anti-polio campaign.

 

He said special arrangements have been made for this round.

 

He said that no one would be allowed to create trouble for the teams of anti-polio campaign. Police department had been directed by DCO to lodge FIRs against the elements trying to stop and attack the mobile teams to discontinue the campaign.

 

This is a national cause and the desired targets would be achieved at all costs, he added.
