COLOMBO: New Zealand were 154-5 in their second innings at tea for an overall lead of 322 on the fourth day of the second and final Test against Sri Lanka at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo on Wednesday.
Skipper Ross Taylor was unbeaten on 53 at the break with debutant Todd Astle 32 not out.
Sri Lanka were earlier bowled out for 244 in their first innings in reply to New Zealand's 412, with Thilan Samaraweera top-scoring with 76. Fast bowler Tim Southee bagged five wickets and Trent Boult took four for New Zealand.
The hosts lead the series 1-0 following their 10-wicket win in the opening Test in Galle.
