KARACHI: Rice showed up significantly while other commodities finished in low profile on the wholesale markets during the week ended on Dec 31, 2011.

On Monday grams and wheat prices kept lower - grams Australia No. 1 shed Rs 100 to Rs 4500 and 4700, gram dal No. 1 lost Rs 100 to Rs 5500 and Rs 5700, yellow peas Canada dal shed Rs 100 to Rs 4250 and Rs 4450, yellow Peas Ukraine shed Rs 50 to Rs 3600 and Rs 3800, yellow peas Ukraine dal shed Rs 50 to Rs 4150 and Rs 4350, wheat old and new bardan lost Rs 10 to Rs 2675 and Rs 2790.

On Tuesday wheat old and new bardan quoted at Rs 2670 and Rs 2675 and Rs 2685 and Rs 2690. Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2975 while the other quality rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3100. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag in Sindh was quoted at Rs 700.

On Wednesday wheat old and new bardan was quoted at Rs 2670 and Rs 2685, guwar Sindh and Punjab registered at Rs 7800 and Rs 7900, and bajra low type lost Rs 100 to Rs 2250, while the better quality was quoted at Rs 2800. Irri-6 Sindh low type shed Rs 50 while better type drifted lower by Rs 100 to Rs 3000. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag Sindh was quoted at Rs 700 and Rs 820, til better type was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3650 while the other variety was unchanged at Rs 3200.

On Jodia Bazar jute goods twine lower as down such as jute goods twine per kg, 20x3 Brown ended down Rs 4 to Rs 88, 16x3 CRT / Indus ended lower by Rs 4 to Rs 88, 8x3 shed Rs 10 to Rs 130 and 40x2 Brown shed Rs 2 to Rs 86.

On Thursday yellow Peas Ukraine dal was down by Rs 50 to Rs 4100 and Rs 4300. Irri 6 Sindh low type shed Rs 15 to Rs 2910, the other type shed Rs 25 to Rs 2975.

On Friday no change was seen on the wholesale commodity and seed market on Friday as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.

On JodiaBazr plastic moulding compounds closed mixed.The following changes were : LASTIC MOULDING COMPOUNDS (Per lb): HDPE (FILM): Saudia 952 edged down by Rs 2 to Rs 74.50 and TR144 went lower by Re 1 to Rs 73.50. HDPE (BLOW): Kuwait was quoted at Rs 75.25, Marlex Singapore finished up by 50 paisa to Rs 75.50 and Iran moved upward by 50 paisa to Rs 74. LLDPE: W118 went higher by Rs 1.25 to Rs 70.50 and 7087 was quoted at Rs 70.25. POLYPROPEYLENE (FILM): India edged lower by Rs 1.25 to Rs 76.50. POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India ended down by 75 to Rs 74.50, Kuwait moved downward by 75 paisa to Rs 74.50 and Saudia closed lower by 75 paisa to Rs 74.50. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia went down by Rs 1.25 to Rs 74.

On Saturday Irri-6 Sindh low type gained Rs 40 to Rs 2950 and best quality was higher by Rs 75 to Rs 3050 due to slight improvement in demand. Rapeseed Nawabshah was quoted higher at Rs 2600, rapeseeds Mirpurelane was up by Rs 75 to Rs 2550-2575 and cakes, however, shed Rs 5 to Rs 870-875. Cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type was down by Rs 50 to Rs 650 and superior quality was lower by Rs 100 to Rs 700.
